CLIMBERS
The huge diversity of people who climb and the variety of personality types, from alpinists, trad climbers and solemn boulderers to fitness freaks, gym bros/sis or outdoorsy hipsters make the climbing community so rich and unique. If you connect with each other – especially with climbers from other parts of the world – you are immersed in a world of experience and skill that’s shared freely.
ROUTE SETTERS
Route setters are the key players of indoor climbing. As the artists of the sport, they build colorful three-dimensional sculptures on white canvas to create climbing movements and what’s more important to create climbing emotions. Hence, they must balance between creative urge and empathy – they have to understand the people they are setting for while surprising them with new and attractive moves.
GYMS & INDUSTRY
Unique climbing gym concepts and the industry’s innovative power have boosted the growth of the sport. The number of newly opened climbing walls rises each year and indoor climbers have a wide choice. How these gyms and industry players connect with the climbing community rather depends on their “actions” than their products.

INTERNATIONAL COMP SERIES
In the CGWL series, climbing gyms compete against their fellow climbing gyms from around the world. Participating gyms host a gym-internal qualifier to determine a 3-person team (2 climbers, 1 route setter) that will represent them in the Global Final.
LIMITED TO 99 CLIMBING GYMS
The CGWL is membership-based and in its first year limited to 99 gyms due to the covid-safe, innovative structure and format of its final event. Registrations are on a first-come, first-serve basis, however international quotas will ensure a worldwide gym representation.
GLOBAL FINAL AS TEAM EVENT
In five selective competition rounds the CGWL Global Final will test the 99 international gym teams in terms of skill, endurance, speed, tactics and creativity. In each round the entire team collects points for the gym’s account and only the best teams advance to the next level. The winners secure a gigantic equipment package for their home gym, including state-of-the-art holds, volumes and technical equipment for the benefit of their entire community.
